Training School in Malta
Thirteen members of the TREATME Working Group on Mechanisms of Change in Youth Psychotherapy (WG2) attended a Training School on “Mediators of psychotherapy outcome in youth and adolescent psychotherapy: review of findings and methodological issues.”
The meeting was led by Dr. Svenja Taubner, Leader of WG2, and by Dr. Erkki Heinonen, Vice-Leader of WG2.
Over the course of the training school, WG2 focused on issues of methodology in conducting systematic reviews on mediators of outcome in youth psychotherapy.
The meeting covered topics such as differentiating between diagnostic categories, age groups, and treatment modalities, as well as identifying and qualitatively categorizing mediators of outcome.
WG2 made significant progress in its task of reviewing the literature of youth psychotherapy outcome studies.
The training school also helped improve the quality and reliability of data extraction, an important step in the process of conducting a systematic review of all the mediators that the psychotherapy research literature shows to be important in determining outcomes and promoting mental health among young populations.
WG2 would like to thank the local organizer, Dr. Andrea Saliba, for the excellent organization and hospitality.
