WG2 held a 2-day meeting at the University of Porto in Porto, Portugal, on Feb 13 and 14, 2020, to summarize the findings of a comprehensive review on mechanisms of change in child and adolescent psychotherapy.
Group members worked to organize the findings of psychotherapy studies with young populations, and identified areas for which systematic reviews can be performed to better understand the factors that lead to positive change in youth psychotherapy.
Group members utilized their expertise to take on initiatives in conducting systematic reviews on externalizing disorders, trauma, different forms of psychotherapy and other areas of interest. A comprehensive review of mediators of outcome in adolescent psychotherapy will also be conducted, with the aim of summarizing the findings of all existing psychotherapy outcome studies for this population. The group also agreed to publish a protocol paper, describing the methodology that has been followed in generating the findings of this review. The possibility of providing open access to the database that is being created for other researchers was also discussed, with a tentative plan to make it available to the public in 2021.
The meeting was led by WG2 Leader, Prof. Svenja Taubner, who also invited group members to discuss possibilities for ongoing collaboration, following completion of the Action in 2021.
Group members enjoyed the warm hospitality of their Portuguese colleagues at the University of Porto and had the opportunity to take a walking tour of the city center and taste the local Port wine and traditional Portuguese dishes.
